We are constantly encouraged to “find what we love and make it a career.” That is precisely what William Mangum has done. Having established himself as one of the foremost landscape artists of his time, Bill in recent years has taken the fundamentals of great composition and technique and repositioned his talent within the medium of acrylic paints on canvas.
Most artist work with brushes, Bill works with a multitude of palette knives as well. “I’m continually pulling paint, layering one color upon another, creating a sense of history within the painting. Like a weathered facade, my surfaces entertain with a variety of chromo, complexion, and intensity.
His artistic pilgrimage began by celebrating landscapes and today has blossomed into a formidable contemporary artist whose diverse style and substance have gained an extraordinary audience.
“Art has always been the focus of my life,” he says, “Just as our lives unfold in uniquely beautiful ways, so do my paintings, each having their own unique and individual expression.”
