Wings of Hope
Artist William Mangum created Wings of Hope to honor his friendship with Mike Saavedra and to raise funds for the Mental Health Association in Greensboro’s 2007 “Art of Living” Auction. Prints are now available to increase awareness and funds for mental health associations throughout North Carolina.
“Mental illness touched my life through my dear friend Michael Saavedra who struggled with schizophrenia.”

Wings of Hope offers a glimpse into my experience with this dear friend. The butterfly, one of God’s most handsome creatures, totally transforms four times throughout life, overcoming obstacles at ever turn.
Seen flying through the wildflowers into peaceful focus, it is a bright, hopeful symbol reflecting the objectives of mental health advocates everywhere.” To inspire others to use their gifts to help those who struggle with mental illness, Bill is speaking on September 17, 2008, at the Mental Health Association in North Carolina convention (more information). Bill is also making Wings of Hope prints available to help mental health organizations increase awareness and raise funds to support their work.
